Frank Fulton Collection

The fonds consists of materials related to the history of Truro and Colchester County, NS that were collected by Frank Fulton throughout his lifetime, including directories, scrapbooks, books. The collection of 118 photographs show the Fulton family's activities during World War II, including images taken overseas. They also show the family spending time at Spencer's Point, NS; Big Cove Camp and Melmerby Beach, Pictou County, NS; businesses around Truro, NS during the 1970s; Frank's ironworks collection; and several postcards of scenes around Truro. 2012.6.1 - 46

A collection of 40 original hand-drawn maps of the Tatamagouche area, including areas of the DesBarres Grant. Maps show land grants, names of property owners, waterways, roads and other details. Dates range from 1835 to 1951 with the majority c1850. Surveyors include John Spry Morris, John Gauld, Robert Byers, Charles Morris, Alexander Miller, Gilbert Sutherland. The second series consists of material that was collected by his daughter, Enid Davison, and his son-in-law, Dr. J. Davison, after his death. Collection consists of photographs and post-cards of Nova Scotia Light and Power electric trams, Trailways charter buses and Dartmouth Transit and Halifax Transit buses; transit maps, tickets and transfers. Photos show trams in downtown Halifax in 1959 and 1968; Trailways Starliner buses at the Commission St. garage, 1978; Dartmouth Transit buses at the Dartmouth Mall loop, as well as a bus-stop sign, 1978; and buses at the Halifax Transit garage on Young St., and at Mumford terminal with Simpson's in background, 1978. Post cards show the last Birney trolley car in Halifax, 1948; the first articulated bus built in Canada used on the Metro Transit #20 Glen Forest run, 1992; NSLP trolley coach outside the CNR railway station in 1967, and a trolley car on Barrington St. at Grand Parade, ca. 1910. There are explanations on the backs of some of the post-cards.Bus Route maps are from Dartmouth Transit, which includes the ferry schedule (197?),and Halifax Transit (1971 and 1978). Tickets are from Nova Scotia Light and Power, Halifax Transit and the Halifax-Dartmouth Bridge Commission; transfers are from Dartmouth Transit, Halifax Transit and Metro Transit. Consists of photographs taken by Canadian Forces Base (CFB) Halifax staff photographers M. Albert, R Dugay, W.O.B. Kyte, B. Lake and M. Ray and by J. M. Carisse of the Prime Minister’s Office (Ottawa), of a number of events associated with the G-7 Summit held in Halifax in June 1995. The photographs show the G-7 leaders following their arrival at Shearwater airport, their visit to Government House, the leaders at the conference table and a luncheon, and aerial views of the summit area on Lower Water Street, Halifax. 1996-178
