Series forms part of Municipality of the District of Argyle (1879-1926) fonds and consists of records pertaining to fire prevention in the Municipality. Although by-laws related to fire prevention existed, the only organized fire department within the area was located in Tusket Village. This fire department was known as the Mayflower Engine Company. The appointment of collectors of fire taxes and officers within the Mayflower Engine Co., by Municipal Council, reveals that the department was considered a branch of the Municipal Goverment. Most other fire prevention activities found in the records pertain to forest fires and forest fire prevention.
