Fonds consists of records regarding imX’s corporate operations, productions, and other projects between 1985 and 2008. Corporate operations include imX Communications and its subsidiary companies: ImageX, Helix Animation, and North/Northeast Ventures. Film productions include theatrical full-length or short films, including documentaries. Television productions include made-for-television movies and documentaries, stand-alone productions, and series. Animated productions include feature length, television series, and shorts. This fonds comprises ninety-four series which are arranged alphabetically by the name of the corporate entity, production, and project. Textual files contain a wide range of documents including scripts, call sheets and daily production reports, funding applications, cast and crew employment contracts, notes on location scouting, co-production agreements, marketing plans, budgets, music cue sheets, insurance coverage, and correspondence. Electronic mail (4.57 GB) downloaded from the e-mail server at imX corporate headquarters in Halifax contains 32,134 individual messages in 1,054 folders covering all aspects of corporate operations and business transactions. There are also 23,368 electronic files (15.6GB) that support the activities of imX, imageX, and Helix Animation documents in use between 1990 and 2008. Together with the text files, they represent a complete record of the activities of imX Communications and its affiliates. Most corporate records have been retained in order to provide a full picture of what it is like to run a film production company in Nova Scotia. In addition, the records for three feature film productions, The Divine Ryans, Margaret’s Museum, and Love and Death on Long Island, have also been fully retained. 134 linear feet of textual material was not retained. File contains a seven page handwritten memoranda from a deed of settlement of the Bank of British North America (May 28, 1836). The deed of settlement was negotiated for the purpose of establishing banks in the British colonies of North America. File also contains four blank forms for transferring shares. The Archives of Oland and Son Limited consists of records created by Oland and Son Limited and its affiliated companies. Some of the companies changed names after Oland and Son sold its brewing assets to John Labatt Limited. Records for these companies are included as well. Records range from 1867 to 1989, but were predominiately created between 1950 and 1971. The Archives of Oland and Son and Affiliated Companies include a wide variety of materials, including administrative records, financial records, correspondence, photographs, advertising and marketing materials, beer production files, sales records, and legal documents. Administrative records typically include meeting minutes, annual reports, memorandums, surveys, and studies or reports on various aspects of the brewing industry and the breweries operated by Oland and Son. Beer production files typically include brewing books, yeast log books, fermentation schedules, production reports, and other records that document the beer production process. The Archives contains a large amount of correspondence between Oland and Son and its affiliated companies and various businesses, government agencies, associations, and individuals from across the Maritimes and around the world. Financial records typically include financial statements, cost reports, comparative statements, general ledgers, valuations, audit reports, and other records documenting the financial position of the various companies. Extensive advertising and marketing files exist, including advertising contracts and schedules, proofs and sketchs, reports and proposals, and budgets. The Archives also has extensive sales records documenting the sale of beer across the Maritimes, Quebec, and parts of the United States and the Caribbean. The Archives also contains hundreds of photographs and blueprints of the factories, factory equipment, and the Bluenose II. Materials are in English, French, German, and Czech.
