Charles William Jefferys fonds

Also included is a letter from Robert Glasgow, Managing Director of The Publishers Association of Canada, outlining the agreement of editorial and illustration work undertaken by Jefferys on a multi-volume series of the works of Haliburton. Lena Ferguson fonds

Fonds consists of approximately 137 hours of oral history interviews conducted by Lena Ferguson. Most interviewees were residents of the Eastern Shore region of Halifax County, particularly the Chezzetcook area. Interview topics include genealogy, local industries, occupations, music, shipping, community life, traditions, and folklore. In addition to interviews, the creator recorded school reunions, concerts, weddings, and church anniversaries. Several paper transcripts are included as well as scrapbooks featuring articles written by Lena and other newspaper articles regarding the Chezzetcook area. 2019.014

S/Lt Garth Bremner was a member of the Royal New Zealand Naval Volunteer Reserve and was attached to the RCAF for flight training. His logbook contains comprehensive notes on aircraft, courses, test results, specialized flying training for navy pilots, exercises, and newspaper articles.S/Lt Bremner began his training at #14 Elementary flying training school in Elmdon, West Midlands, England, flying Tiger Moths. In July 1942, he was transferred to 32 S.F.T.S in Kingston, Ontario, for training on Harvard and Harvard II aircraft. Starting in January 1943, S/Lt Bremner trained on Oxford and Sparrow aircraft at the Royal Naval Air Station Danibristle, located East of Fife, Scotland. In February, he was moved to #1 Naval air Gunnery school in Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, where he trained on Swordfish and stayed after training to fly Swordfish aircraft until February 1945.In March 1945, S/Lt Bremner was transferred to the Royal Naval Air Station Trinidad, also called NAS Trinidad, NAS Port-of-Spain, which was a large United States Navy naval base built during World War II to support the many naval ships fighting and patrolling the Battle of the Atlantic. S/Lt Bremner flew Grumman Goose, Reliant, Anson1, and Dakota Aircraft on flights to Puerto Rico, Nassau, Baltimore, New York, and New Zealand.The Swordfish HS-469, flown by S/Lt Bremnar, is currently displayed at the Shearwater Aviation Museum. This logbook is the second volume for Sub-Lieutenant Levitin. He joined RCAF/AFHQ/AMTS on February 5th, 1954, as a Navigator on Dakota aircraft. He served in this position until September 4th, 1956, when he reported to RCAF Staff College in Toronto for aircrew training on the Expeditor aircraft. Later, he was transferred to AFHG/DAI where he flew on Dakota's and Expeditors. On January 31st, Sub-Lieutenant Levitin was transferred to CJS London, England, where he flew in Dakotas and Bristol aircraft. He remained there until July 3rd, 1964. SAM.2014.0024.001b

This is a spiral-bound photocopy that contains two pictures of planes on the inside cover. One is black and white, and the other is in color. The second picture has accompanying information about the photograph. The item includes a certification for the Anson Aircraft and a certification of the pilot's reliability. The document contains information about the make and model of the plane flown, the pilot's name, the number of hours flown, exercises and drills recorded in numerical format, courses run, locational information of training received, monthly flying totals, ASR (Submarine Rescue Vessel) searches, bombings, and enemy sightings. It also includes information on duties at new postings such as exercises, instructional duties, and hours flown. This document also includes a record of service and a record of aircraft flown.
