Fonds consists primarily of documents related to Katherine L. Stoddard’s research and her interest in genealogy, particularly that of her own family. Stoddard’s records include information related to many Eastern Shore families, including the Stoddard and Ritcey families, as well as local history. Series forms part of the Annabel (Siteman) Ells fonds and consists of correspondence regarding the establishment of a school at Ship Harbour, school trustee documents, school returns and registers for Ship Harbour school. Also includes correspondence from Clam Harbour school section, a memorial of the inhabitants of Egmont Harbour, Jeddore regarding the establishment of a school and church and aid to support a teacher. Also consists of school papers from Pictou County, particularly Toney River, and other school records gathered by Annabel Ells during the course of her research. In addition, series includes original high school certificates, teacher’s licenses and diplomas of Annabel Siteman as well as examination papers for various clerk positions. Fonds consists of correspondence written to Walter, Hannah, and Laura Stoddard as well as records related to churches and church societies and memorabilia related to the First World War that was found in the Stoddard Hotel. Fonds also contains financial records including insurance policies and tax receipts as well as post office records including ledgers of records of registered mail. Remaining records include permits, dance step instructions, quilt patterns, paintings by Harold Brownhill, a poem by Burns Marks, a label from E. Homan’s clam cannery, a brochure for a Camp Charlotte, a sign erected by the Cranberry Committee, and a business card and photograph of Judge F. M. Morson. Accession number 2013.010

Part of Laura F. Stoddard family fonds
Series is part of the Laura F. Stoddard family fonds and consists of three ledgers containing general records of registered mail for 1894-1903, 1904, and 1914-1919. Series also consists of two notes from William Condon of the Egg Island Light c.1897 to Walter Stoddard, Postmaster at Clam Harbour, concerning registered mail as well as one note from another sender dated May 1895. These notes were originally located in the registered letters journal for the post office. Series also includes one certificate of post office registration for a letter addressed to Parker Archibald, and two Post Office Department notices to the postmaster at Clam Harbour concerning his salary as well as three envelopes. The fonds consists of records accumulated by Annabel (Siteman) Ells during the course of her research on the area of Ship Harbour and the families who lived there as well as personal records created and accumulated throughout her lifetime. The fonds includes a wide variety of records such as land related documents, wills, Loyalist petitions, census information, court papers, church registers and vital statistics including marriage, birth, and death records; school papers, genealogies, clippings and notes taken from various newspapers and periodicals, photographs and negatives, correspondence, postcards, and diaries. Fonds consists of financial records belonging to William Gaetz including insurance papers, receipts, correspondence, documents related to the estate of Josephine Gaetz, and military pension information. Also included are records related to Gaetz’s time spent serving in WWI, correspondence with soldiers during WWII, records related to Gaetz’s membership in the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Musquodoboit Harbour United Church for which Gaetz acted as treasurer. Church records include financial papers and correspondence, account books, receipts, religious education material, meeting minutes, photographs, insurance documents, and other material. Fonds also includes records pertaining to electoral districts and voters as Gaetz was one of the revisors of the voter lists for his district. In addition, fonds includes lists of officers of the Musquodoboit Harbour Volunteer Fire Department and other material. Accession number 2012.001

Part of Laura F. Stoddard family fonds
Series forms part of Laura F. Stoddard family fonds and consists of eleven postcards, a Christmas card, and several notes to Hannah, Walter, and Laura Stoddard from various correspondents and from all over the world including Italy, the United States, and Britain. Series also contains ten letters to Walter and Hannah Stoddard from Reverend James Anderson including nine prayer cards. In addition there are two military Christmas cards from 1918 to Mr. and Mrs. Walter Stoddard including one from a Private Duncan near [Brussels] and one from France from N. Webber of the Canadian Forestry Corps, 70th Co. Overseas. There is also one letter to Mrs. Hannah Stoddard from the Imperial War Graves Commission dated 1923 concerning the erection of a headstone, correspondence to Hannah Stoddard from the Treasury Department, Bureau of War Risk Insurance concerning the life insurance of Frank Cecil Stoddard who was enlisted in the US army; and a wreath order form and card sent to Mrs. W. E. Stoddard from the War Graves Commission. Series also includes a number of birth and wedding announcements as well as a letter to Walter Stoddard from his brother Dr. T. A. Stoddard discussing the purchase of land to establish a muskrat, mink, and fox fur farm. There is also a booklet on raising muskrats, which is referenced in the letter. Accession number: 2013.010
