Fonds · 1857, 1902
Records consist of land grants and indentures involving the Rennels, Blakney, Mitchell, and Myers families. Included is one 1857 land grant to William Rennels for one hundred acres in Jeddore. Also included are two 1902 indentures for land in Jeddore; one from Walter and Emma Rennels to John G. Mitchell and one from Isaac and Eunice Blakney to John Myers. William Rennels was employed as a merchant and married Maria Jennings, daughter of Joseph Jennings, in Halifax County, November 26, 1840. Walter John Rennels was the son of William and Maria. He was born May 4, 1859 in either Halifax County or Bayfield, NS. He married Emily E. Hartling, daughter of John and Charlotte Hartling, January 19, 1887 in Salmon River, where both were living at the time. Walter and Emily (Emma) had at least three children including Winifred J. (b. Jan. 28, 1890, d. Nov.5, 1944), Percy Karl (b. Dec. 11, 1898 in Halifax), and Cora Douglissa (b. Port Dufferin, m. Guy N. Stultz Aug. 4, 1919). On his marriage record, Walter Rennels’ occupation is listed as merchant in Salmon River, however on the birth, marriage, and death records of his children he is listed as a clerk in Halifax. He died June 23, 1936 and is buried in Camp Hill Cemetery. John George Mitchell was born c. 1842 and was the son of Captain David and Mary Frances (Webber) Mitchell. He worked as a lumberman in Jeddore. His first wife’s name was Eliza Anne Smith. He was widowed and married Mary Elizabeth “Bessie” (nee Mitchell) Mitchell (b.1864) of Jeddore on Jan. 20, 1894 in Dartmouth. They had one son, Byron Hadley (b. Sept. 12, 1894, d. Jun. 24, 1945). John G. Mitchell was the grandson of Colin Campbell Mitchell (b.1767). Isaac Day Blakeney was born c.1851, lived in Head of Jeddore, and worked as a labourer. His parents were Benjamin and Frances (Daye) Blakeney. He married Eunice Sophia Blakeney, daughter of Luke and Sarah A. (Doyle) Blakeney on June 10, 1882. Together Isaac and Eunice had eight children; Minnie, Herbert I., Alice F., Ralph S., Laura S., Ina E., and Raymond. Eunice Blakeney died March 20, 1926 and Isaac Blakeney died October 28, 1930 at Head of Jeddore where they are also buried. Accession number 2013.002
East Jeddore School fonds

Fonds consists of records of the East Jeddore School and consists of a ledger which records school taxes owed by individual taxpayers for the period of 1930-1936, along with their payment status. Also recorded are teacher salaries, supply costs, insurance fees, and other expenses for the same period. In addition, the ledger book includes minutes of school meetings from 1923-1935. Also includes a sheet of paper which records valuations of taxpayers’ property in East Jeddore and school taxes for 1921. Accession number 2009.039

Collection consists of forty monochrome aerial photographs of the Eastern Shore taken between 1931 and 1945. Also includes seven corresponding flight maps. Photographs illustrate the landscapes and coastlines of various locations along the Eastern Shore as they were in 1931-1945. Areas covered by the aerial photographs within this collection include Owl's Head, Little Harbour, Clam Harbour, Burnt Point, Clam Bay, Lake Charlotte, Ship Harbour, Upper Lakeville, Oyster Pond, and the Jeddores. Item · 1943-1958
Item consists of a treasurer's book of the Home & School Association of Jeddore Oyster Pond, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, covering the period from 1943 to 1958. Recorded in the book are receipts from the Association’s various income sources, as well as expenses for its various programs and events. Also included in the expenses are “equalization” fees which may have been intended for other affiliated home & school associations, and sums for the purchase or rental of a Gestetner copying machine. Fonds consists of correspondence written to Walter, Hannah, and Laura Stoddard as well as records related to churches and church societies and memorabilia related to the First World War that was found in the Stoddard Hotel. Fonds also contains financial records including insurance policies and tax receipts as well as post office records including ledgers of records of registered mail. Remaining records include permits, dance step instructions, quilt patterns, paintings by Harold Brownhill, a poem by Burns Marks, a label from E. Homan’s clam cannery, a brochure for a Camp Charlotte, a sign erected by the Cranberry Committee, and a business card and photograph of Judge F. M. Morson. Accession number 2013.010
Annabel (Siteman) Ells fonds

The fonds consists of records accumulated by Annabel (Siteman) Ells during the course of her research on the area of Ship Harbour and the families who lived there as well as personal records created and accumulated throughout her lifetime. The fonds includes a wide variety of records such as land related documents, wills, Loyalist petitions, census information, court papers, church registers and vital statistics including marriage, birth, and death records; school papers, genealogies, clippings and notes taken from various newspapers and periodicals, photographs and negatives, correspondence, postcards, and diaries. Fonds · 1966-1980
The first three series of the fonds consist of essays and research written and compiled by Mr. Patrick Milligan and Mr. D. Engram’s grade ten students at Eastern Shore District High School between 1973 and 1980 as part of a class project on local history. The essays include information about various aspects of the history of the Eastern Shore such as industries and occupations, activities, cemeteries, churches, individuals, houses, education, and family and community history. Selected essays from Mr. Milligan’s local history course, 1974-1975, were compiled into a school publication called The Shore Thing, a preliminary copy of which is included in the fonds. The purpose of the book was to introduce students to their own area and familiarize them with the history of local communities along the Eastern Shore. It was placed in the school library for the benefit of all students. The fonds also consists of yearbooks and a newspaper published by the school during the first ten years of its operation.
