Fonds consists of the financial records of the trustees of Harbourside School of Owl's Head, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, including pages from a ledger book listing income and expenses of the trustees from January 1968 to June 1973. The ledger pages also list transactions of the trustees bank accounts from June 1977 to February 1983. Some transactions are also listed on sheets of loose leaf paper. Also included are two invoices addressed to the Harbourside School, one from Brookfield Foods and the other from the University of New Brunswick. In addition, there are two bank deposit slips and a calculator printout. Accession number 2009.042.

Part of Wallace Russell fonds
Series consists of eight receipts belonging to Wallace Russell that include purchases made at Parker’s General Store in Owl’s Head and John M. Homans General Store in Clam Harbour between 1944 and 1953. Also includes three receipts for product (likely lobster) sold on account of Wallace Russell by Nickerson and Hyde Commission Merchants in Boston in 1944. Two of the latter receipts have letters written on the back from Maurice Nickerson to Wallace Russell regarding lobster sales. Series also includes one private receiving station license from the Department of Transport—Telecommunications Division for Wallace Russell dated 1951-1952. S1

Consists of two handmade and handwritten books entitled, The Owlet and The Work of the Owl, which were created by the students of the Owl’s Head Harbour School. The Owlet was a magazine that the students created for exhibition in Halifax with the help of their teacher. Associated editors of The Owlet are listed as being Una Palmer, Reta Palmer, and Helen Parker. It features poems, horoscopes, essays, a school prophecy, jokes, drawings including the school and its floor plan, a list of pupils, and lists of improvements made to the school in the year 1932-1933. Some of the essays in this book relate to work and life in Owls Head and include an essay on sheep farming and the breed of sheep used. The Work of the Owl is a yearbook created by the students of the Owl’s Head Harbour School. It includes the school yell, school song, songs learned during year, animated map of Owl’s Head, poetry and prose about various topics, horoscopes, humor, and drawings. Accession number 2013.005

Collection consists of forty monochrome aerial photographs of the Eastern Shore taken between 1931 and 1945. Also includes seven corresponding flight maps. Photographs illustrate the landscapes and coastlines of various locations along the Eastern Shore as they were in 1931-1945. Areas covered by the aerial photographs within this collection include Owl's Head, Little Harbour, Clam Harbour, Burnt Point, Clam Bay, Lake Charlotte, Ship Harbour, Upper Lakeville, Oyster Pond, and the Jeddores. Series forms part of the Annabel (Sitman) Ells fonds and consists of several maps, the majority of which were produced by the Department of Mines and Resources between 1935 and 1948 and include the areas of Yarmouth, Shelburne, Queens, and Annapolis counties, Tangier, Upper Musquodoboit, Ship Harbour, Guysborough County, Ecum Secum, Moncton, Cape Breton, Owl’s Head, Port Dufferin, River John, New Glasgow, Halifax. Series also includes highway and tourist maps of Nova Scotia, the Maritimes, Halifax and Dartmouth from c. 1948-1965 as well as street guides of Halifax and Dartmouth c. 1955-1965. Also included are Department of National Defence topographical maps of Chezzetcook, Musquodoboit, Halifax, and Sambro from 1939 and 1943. Accession number: 2013.066

Fonds consists of correspondence written to Walter, Hannah, and Laura Stoddard as well as records related to churches and church societies and memorabilia related to the First World War that was found in the Stoddard Hotel. Fonds also contains financial records including insurance policies and tax receipts as well as post office records including ledgers of records of registered mail. Remaining records include permits, dance step instructions, quilt patterns, paintings by Harold Brownhill, a poem by Burns Marks, a label from E. Homan’s clam cannery, a brochure for a Camp Charlotte, a sign erected by the Cranberry Committee, and a business card and photograph of Judge F. M. Morson. Accession number 2013.010
