Architectural drawings for residence at 38 Dominion Street, Truro, NS.Built in 1903, this 2.5 story wood frame structure was designed by E. D. Vernon. It is an excellent example of the Queen Anne Style with many classical details including bays, gables, fluted Corinthian columns, Palladian windows, and dentils. It was built by Frank Stanfield Sr. for his bride beside the original family property #44. 87.2.2 to 87.2.9

A collection of 40 original hand-drawn maps of the Tatamagouche area, including areas of the DesBarres Grant. Maps show land grants, names of property owners, waterways, roads and other details. Dates range from 1835 to 1951 with the majority c1850. Surveyors include John Spry Morris, John Gauld, Robert Byers, Charles Morris, Alexander Miller, Gilbert Sutherland. The collection contains the textual, graphic, and audio records of the oral history project. Twelve people from the Truro area were interviewed and the collection is arranged with a series for each interviewee. Audio cassettes and one videotape were recorded during the interviews. Included with each audio cassette is a transcription and a journal written by the student about their experience. Digital videodiscs were later created in 2013 from the audio cassettes for preservation of the recordings. 95.88.1 - 12

The fonds contains records that demonstrate the academic activities of the staff and students of the Nova Scotia Teachers College, as well as some materials from the previous Nova Scotia Normal College. The series include: calendars, student directories, guide books, essays, examinations, commencement programs, convocation programs, banquet programs, “Teachers Views” newsletters, “Normal Bulletin” newsletters, while all other records are arranged in no particular order. Dominant record types include awards, certificates, Principal’s reports, addresses, and newspaper clippings, letters, newsletters, and records of the Alumni Association. The records provide information on some of the special events of the school, including Athletic Awards banquets, Honours banquets, convocation, commencement, Christmas concerts, Winter Carnival. The fonds consists of materials related to the history of Truro and Colchester County, NS that were collected by Frank Fulton throughout his lifetime, including directories, scrapbooks, books. The collection of 118 photographs show the Fulton family's activities during World War II, including images taken overseas. They also show the family spending time at Spencer's Point, NS; Big Cove Camp and Melmerby Beach, Pictou County, NS; businesses around Truro, NS during the 1970s; Frank's ironworks collection; and several postcards of scenes around Truro. 2012.6.1 - 46
Blaikie Family Collection

The collection contains textual records and photographs that demonstrate the activities of several members of the Blaikie Family of Great Village, NS, for almost a century from the mid-1800s to the mid-1900s. Items were arranged into series by the archivist based on record type or content, including: letters; insurance policies for various properties in Great Village; payment agreements; Estate of Melinda (Gould) Blaikie; bills; land deeds; John Wier contracts; World War I correspondence, mostly between Joseph McKay Blaikie and Blanche Johnson; ledgers; documents related to the shipbuilding and shipping industries, focusing on “The Peerless”, “Chieftain”, and “The President”. The fonds also contains assorted items related to community organizations and happenings in Great Village, NS, including: day books for Ezra Layton’s store; Iron Age Division of the Sons of Temperance; dyke books; play bills; Corinthians Lodge; war rations books; Women’s Institute of Great Village; and a scrapbook. The photograph collection contains a large number of portraits, with most people identified as members of the Blaikie Family. There are also a large number of photographs of William Edward Spencer and Truene Ruth (Geddes) Spencer, at home and on holiday in California. 2006.48.1 - 148; 2007.36.1 - 56
