Albert White diary

This diary is a discrete item and is a copy of the diary written by Albert White during the course of a trip to England from June to October of 1897 to visit family and to witness and participate in the celebration of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee on June 22nd. He sailed from Rimouski on June 6th on the Vancouver and left Liverpool on September 16th on the Scotsman. While most of the diary is related to his visit in England, an account of his journey from Mooseland to Rimouski gives an accurate account of transportation during the late 19th century. Collection consists of postcards accumulated by Anna Barbara Webber. Postcards date from 1905 to 1914, but predominantly from 1906 to 1912. Most postcards are addressed either to Anna Barbara or to her (then) future husband William Wilson Webber, although there are also some to other family members. Most of the postcards refer to events and activities on the Eastern Shore and in Dartmouth, where Anna Barbara lived during this time period. Postcards are each assigned an individual number from 1 to 696, and are arranged into five categories pertaining to their styles or types: postcards representing specific communities, landscape postcards, photograph postcards, greeting cards, and romance cards. Within each category, cards are arranged in order of their number. Accession number 2008.013.

The fonds consists of records accumulated by Annabel (Siteman) Ells during the course of her research on the area of Ship Harbour and the families who lived there as well as personal records created and accumulated throughout her lifetime. The fonds includes a wide variety of records such as land related documents, wills, Loyalist petitions, census information, court papers, church registers and vital statistics including marriage, birth, and death records; school papers, genealogies, clippings and notes taken from various newspapers and periodicals, photographs and negatives, correspondence, postcards, and diaries. Item consists of a typed letter addressed to Avon Bayers, asking if he was interested in a job painting a house and if so, whether he could call at 44 1/2 Almon, Street in Halifax to pick up the supplies, which had already been purchased.
