Series forms part of Mount Saint Vincent University Senate fonds and consists of minutes, memorandums and supporting material generated by the activities of the Academic Coordinating Committee (1978-1986) which included furthering the academic programs of the university and coordinating the University's assets in the field of admissions, recruitment policy, registration, academic regulations and policies, continuing education, both credit and non-credit, complementary to academic programs.

minutes of meetings of the Sub-Committee for the Study of Senate Structure, a sub-committee of the Committee on University Government (1970-1971). Records were generated when the committee studied the function, membership and composition of Senate and the criteria for election to Senate. Series also consists of memos and minutes of meetings of the Ad Hoc Committee on Senate Composition, formed in October 1979 by the Committee on University Government, to study the composition of Senate. This ad hoc committee generated these records when studying the composition of Senate with respect to the further representation of part-time students and Student Services (1979-1980).

Series consists of administrative files created by the Teaching and Learning Centre, including meeting notes and reports from the Continuing Education committee and sub-committee (1978-1986), the Senate committee on Continuing Education (1973-1977), and CAPP: the Committee on Academic Policy and Planning (2007, 2012). Series also consists of director’s meetings notes (1987-1988), communications from MSVU’s President (2000-2014), Continuing Education reviews (1988-1995), notes from the Continuing Education Task Force (1981-1988), Continuing Education consultations (2011-2012), MSVU strategic plans (1987-1990, 2010-2017), and Faculty collective agreements (2000-2019), as well as annual reports (1972-1993), summer school session reports (1973-84, 2004-2006), and CAUCE (Canadian Association for University Continuing Education) environmental scans (1992) and correspondence (2007-2015). Series contains surveys from non-traditional students (1986), adult students (1984-1986), and first year students (2004), as well as activities produced by the Teaching and Learning Centre including the 30th year anniversary (2010-2012), various lecture series (2011-2017), programs and workshops (1987-2003), and course offerings and course development (1992-2018). The associations include, the Canadian Nurses Association (1962-1976), the Registered Nurses Association of Nova Scotia (1978-79), the Canadian University Nursing Students Association (1973), the Canadian Atlantic University School of Nursing (1970-1976), Canadian Conference of University Schools of Nursing (1959-1972), and the Catholic Hospital Association of the United States and Canada (1938). The series also consists of a survey conducted by the Registered Nurses Association of Nova Scotia on Nursing Schools in Nova Scotia (1966).

Series consists of buttons related to various organizations and events advocating for social justice and peace causes, including nuclear disarmament, Indigenous rights and land claims, environmental conservation, women’s rights, anti-apartheid in South Africa, and anti-U.S. intervention in Latin America, especially in Nicaragua and El Salvador. Series also includes anti-war buttons, predominantly in reference to the Gulf War (1991). Some buttons refer to political parties, in particular the New Democratic Party (NDP) and the African National Congress (ANC). Series also includes the shirt worn by Peterson to the 1982 nuclear disarmament rally in New York City with buttons attached. PR-031-2

records generated by the functions of the Academic Policy and Planning Committee, which include: to discuss, review, and study philosophies and concepts of education affecting academic programs and the university; to recommend to the Senate the academic terms on which any faculty, school, institute, centre, department, chair, or course of instruction may be established or discontinued in the university; to consider proposals from the Undergraduate Curriculum and Graduate Studies Committee as appropriate; to recommend to Senate academic priorities of all undergraduate and graduate courses and programs; review and make recommendations regarding any agreement for academic cooperation made with organizations or institutions external to the university; form ad hoc committees of academic policy and planning as required to further the development of policy and planning of programs which at certain times may require concentrated attention and specific membership expertise; exercise such other functions, powers and duties as may from time to time be conferred on it by the Senate; nominate one of its members to the Graduate Studies Committee. Series consists of inter-office memorandums and minutes of meetings of the Committee for Academic Affairs (1957-1987, 1991-1992); memorandums and guidelines for new course offerings used in decisions made by the Committee (1972-1974); minutes of meetings of the Policy and Planning Sub-Committee (1979-1980); Three-Year Review of Courses and Programmes (1978-1979); preliminary report of the Sub-Committee on Interdisciplinary Studies (ca. 1970), and correspondence of the Review Sub-Committee (1986-1987). Series also consists of memos proposing a Graduate Studies Committee (1969), which was created that year to recommend the requirements for admission to Graduate study reporting to Senate.
