This fonds contains minute books of meetings from 1946-1972, three filed employee grievances ( Janette Roy, Thelma Burgess, and Helen Haskem), conciliation board submissions and papers, arbitration board submissions and papers, reference material including newspaper clippings and miscellaneous reference material. The miscellaneous reference file contains receipts, an application for membership with the United Textile Workers of America, an efficiency report for 1969, and a record of proceedings and decision of board referees. As well this fonds includes collective agreements from 1948-1973, and miscellaneous correspondence. MS-9-19

The fonds includes correspondence, contract documents, district council documents, annual conference proceedings/documents, information about the conference on trade union rights in 1951-1952, press releases issued by the United Textile Workers of America, and miscellaneous reference material including, a sheet outlining the, "commonplace precaution against war" with a diagram about the potential damages of an atom bomb blast. The reference material contains blank due deduction slips for the United Textile Workers of America Local 152, newsletters issued by the Canadian Textile Council, a pamphlet issued by the Trade Union Research Bureau titled, "Wages and the Cost of Living", and amendments submitted by the "Local 100 United Textile Workers of America for negotiations with the Montreal Cottons Limited." Materials include Malagash Salt Mine Workers' Union minute books (1946-1959), the union charter (1941), collective agreements (1943, 1948, 1950-1954, 1956-1957, 1959, 1961-1967). Microfilm also contains collective agreements of the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union (1969-1973), the constitution of the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers International Union (1970) and miscellaneous papers (1952-1972). File contains a preliminary outline of the History of the Canadian Seamen's Union 1936-1950 and a letter from Charles Macdonald to Tom McGrath, Bud Doucette, and Stan Wingfield. The Canadian Seaman's Union, established 1936 to improve the archaic working conditions and wages for ordinary commercial seamen. Affiliated to the Trades and Labour Congress, this effective, well supported, nationalist, communist led industrial union contributed to Canada's efforts in the Second World War. It gained concessions, was recognized as collective bargaining agent for ordinary seamen, and it fought unsuccessfully to retain Canada's merchant fleet.The outline is an attempt to line up the main sequence of events and the most important nonchronological matters that must be covered. The Archives of Oland and Son Limited consists of records created by Oland and Son Limited and its affiliated companies. Some of the companies changed names after Oland and Son sold its brewing assets to John Labatt Limited. Records for these companies are included as well. Records range from 1867 to 1989, but were predominiately created between 1950 and 1971. The Archives of Oland and Son and Affiliated Companies include a wide variety of materials, including administrative records, financial records, correspondence, photographs, advertising and marketing materials, beer production files, sales records, and legal documents. Administrative records typically include meeting minutes, annual reports, memorandums, surveys, and studies or reports on various aspects of the brewing industry and the breweries operated by Oland and Son. Beer production files typically include brewing books, yeast log books, fermentation schedules, production reports, and other records that document the beer production process. The Archives contains a large amount of correspondence between Oland and Son and its affiliated companies and various businesses, government agencies, associations, and individuals from across the Maritimes and around the world. Financial records typically include financial statements, cost reports, comparative statements, general ledgers, valuations, audit reports, and other records documenting the financial position of the various companies. Extensive advertising and marketing files exist, including advertising contracts and schedules, proofs and sketchs, reports and proposals, and budgets. The Archives also has extensive sales records documenting the sale of beer across the Maritimes, Quebec, and parts of the United States and the Caribbean. The Archives also contains hundreds of photographs and blueprints of the factories, factory equipment, and the Bluenose II. Materials are in English, French, German, and Czech.
