Sydenham Howe fonds

Fonds consists of a scrapbook compiled by Sydenham Howe, mostly documenting his family and his literary and artistic interests. Includes correspondence, predominantly written to and from Hon. Joseph Howe; printed and handwritten poems by Joseph Howe, Maria Morris, Mary Jane Katzman Lawson, and others; prints of engravings and lithographs, many of which depict women's fashions of the mid-19th century; newspaper clippings, several pertaining to poetry and curling; sketches and watercolours by artist Maria Morris as well as Mary Currie and S.J. Howe; visiting cards; autographs dated 1757 onwards; printed material and ephemera, including invitations, the Victoria School of Art and Design exhibibition of loans catalogue, 1887, and 1889 issue of Halifax Carnival, and three Notman photographs of John Howe and John and Mary (Currie) Ross. Thomas Rose operated a photography studio in Annapolis Royal from 1948 until 1973. The fonds consist of 619 photographs and approximately 2,000 negatives taken at this time. The images are of people, buildings, scenery and events in Annapolis Royal and area. 2002.1199

Harold Thorne Stultz fonds

The fonds consist of 262 photographs and a large number of negatives. Harold Thorne Stultz was a scientist with the Dominion Entomology Laboratory in Annapolis Royal from 1935 until 1952, when it was moved to a new location in Kentville, NS. During his time in town in the 1930s and 1940s he created an extensive collection of portrait photographs of area residents. Stultz retired in 1968. 2005.1246

Fonds consists of financial records of St. John's Anglican Church, Oyster Pond, N.S., and includes a book listing donations received by the church with the names of the donors, collections information, records of money received from hall rentals, and other income sources. The book also records money paid to the minister and other miscellaneous expenses for the years 1941 to 1943. Some transactions and calculations are also recorded on loose sheets of paper. Also included are receipts from wholesale merchant P.H. Weary for hardware, oil, and other supplies, as well as a 1940 tax notice and receipt from the Municipality of the County of Halifax and a note requesting payment of insurance fees. 2010.007
