Hosking General Store fonds and consists of correspondence related to the Store, including a letter from a customer to Mildred Hosking, and a letter to Garth Hosking from the Employment Insurance Commission. Series also includes sets of blank letterheads and invoices in W.M.O. Mitchell’s name from the 1910s. Also included in the series is a 1941 license to sell gasoline issued to W.M.O. Mitchell. Series also includes blank letterheads from Hosking’s Garage. In addition, series includes a 1904 list of voters from the number 27 polling district of Halifax County. Collection consists of postcards accumulated by Anna Barbara Webber. Postcards date from 1905 to 1914, but predominantly from 1906 to 1912. Most postcards are addressed either to Anna Barbara or to her (then) future husband William Wilson Webber, although there are also some to other family members. Most of the postcards refer to events and activities on the Eastern Shore and in Dartmouth, where Anna Barbara lived during this time period. Postcards are each assigned an individual number from 1 to 696, and are arranged into five categories pertaining to their styles or types: postcards representing specific communities, landscape postcards, photograph postcards, greeting cards, and romance cards. Within each category, cards are arranged in order of their number. Accession number 2008.013.

Series forms part of Association for Preservation of the Eastern Shore fonds and consists of records related to the Association’s involvement in the opposition to the federal and provincial governments’ proposal for a Ship Harbour National Park. Most of the Association’s activities from its formation around October 1972 until late 1973 were related to this opposition. Series contains correspondence, meeting minutes, briefs, reports, clippings, notes, newsletters, notices, memorandums, and other material. Series also includes petitions opposing the National Park which were circulated by members of the Committee to Prevent the Proposed Park in October 1972. In addition, series includes a copy of a petition opposing the National Park which was circulated by Aubrey Siteman in 1969.

Series forms part of Association for Preservation of the Eastern Shore fonds and consists of records which are not directly related to Association activities, and generally not created by Association members, but which pertain to topics of interest to the Association. Series includes correspondence, publications, speech notes, a film transcript, Senate debates, bills, and proceedings, additional material related to Byways and Special Places, a variety of research on National Parks and other background information. Series also includes material, mainly clippings, related to the conflict surrounding expropriation of land at Kouchibouguac National Park in New Brunswick. In addition, series contains a comprehensive study of District 18, Halifax County in 1972 conducted by local residents following Hurricane Beth which caused damage to the pulp mill in Sheet Harbour, resulting in the need to establish a new industry in the area. The goal of the study was to determine what industries were feasible for the area with the resources that were available.

Series forms part of the Chezzetcook Historical Society fonds and consists of records relating to activities and events which the Society and its members organized or participated in, including public displays of historical artifacts, society parties, the dedication of a local war memorial, and the Chezzetcook Acadian celebrations of 2004. Series contains guest books, photographs of events, programs, brochures, correspondence, notes, an article, a newsletter, a videocassette, and other material. Series also contains entries in two competitions organized by the society for local grade six and seven students; one for a design for the Society’s seal and one for a 500-word essay on a local historical topic. In addition, series includes correspondence, clippings and other material related to society members’ involvement in an early 1980s movement to prevent the government from running Highway 107 through the Chezzetcook Marshes.
