Fonds consists of two scrapbooks compiled by Agnes Dennis, containing newspaper clippings, photographs, correspondence, and invitations relating to her career activities, the Victorian Order of Nurses and Local Council of Women, Halifax. Also contains newspaper clippings concerning her husband, Senator William Dennis and daughter, Dr. Clara Dennis. Fonds consists of the research done by Barss and Gordon for "Older Ways: Traditional Nova Scotia Craftsmen" published in 1980. Between 1975 and 1977 they interviewed and photographed 30 artisans who were practicing a traditional craft in Nova Scotia, which produced a practical item (i.e. folk artists were eliminated). Included are: images taken by Barss of the craftspeople at work; interviews with the craftspeople conducted by Barss and Gordon; the creator's grant applications and correspondence, press clippings, etc., relating to the 1977 exhibit at Mount St Vincent Art Gallery based on their research; and a copy of their final publication. Of those interviewed, 19 artisans were from Lunenburg County, five from Kings County, and three from both Queens and Annapolis Counties. Their crafts include the making of fish nets, sails, knives, baskets, butter churns and tool handles. During their interviews, they discuss the technical aspects of their craft as well as modern lifestyles and values as compared to traditional ones. Sound: Accession 1987-028

Consists of submissions received from individuals and community groups from across Nova Scotia (1975); the planning meeting minutes of the Task Force (1975-1976); a transcript of the final public hearing, held in Halifax (Oct 30, 1975); and a copy of the published report presented to Government (March 1976). Submissions include hand-written letters, formal briefs, and transcripts of presentations made at the hearings. They are organized by meeting/hearing location in alphabetical order by place name. Contains primarily correspondence, research material, photographs, and other material relating to Shelburne County history, including the Loyalists, Port Roseway Associates, Ross-Thomson House, ships, and Shelburne County families. Also includes correspondence, research material, diaries, draft chapters, manuscripts, and other material relating to her various publications and research on topics including folklore, the Doane family and Doane Shipyard, the Mi'kmaq, and bird-watching. Also includes records relating to her husband Donald Robertson and the Shelburne County Historical Society, and watercolours of Shelburne scenes painted by Annie P. Bruce in 1893.
