one regimental orders book kept partly by Orderly Sargent Joshua Chadsey, who was stationed at Halifax, N.S. and in the Artillery Company, 1st Regiment Queens County, under the command of Captain Joseph Freeman, which was a Liverpool based company. The book was regularly used to record brigade orders and militia general orders, often as directed by the Lieutenant Governor. The orders read as a journal of the activities of military bodies around Nova Scotia. It includes notes on court martials, appointments, drills and duties. The second half of the book contains entries made at Liverpool, and consists of regimental orders for the Queens County Militia kept by Nathan Tupper, first major commanding the 21st Battalion of Nova Scotia Militia. Tupper later became a colonel, commanding all forces based in Queens County.
