Personal papers collected by the MacDonald family who sold their home to Aleah and Alton Lomas in 1970. This folder holds many family photographs, news clippings and personal correspondence (1885-1991) collected primarily by Neil Bruce MacDonald (b. 1998), who lived in Sherbrooke NS. Many of the papers concern J. Scott MacDonald, including his childhood diaries (1908, 1911), and papers regarding his work as First Secretary to Canadian Legation in Geneva (1940) and Paris (1938-1940), High Commissioner to Newfoundland (May 1944- May 1948), his trade mission to Australia and New Zealand, his work as an Ambassador to Rio de Janeiro Brazil (1948), Belgrade Yugoslavia (1953, now Serbia, which Scott says is “a great place for plums”), and Vienna Austria (1958), before he returned to Napanee, Ontario by 1968. Family letters suggest that while Neil was still in Sherbrooke, NS, in the house, Scott wanted to keep the house in the family while Graham was eager to sell.
