Fonds consists of original land transaction registers containing transcribed deeds, mortgages and other documents pertaining to land transactions as they were deposited by land grantees (buyers) and grantors (sellers) for most counties in Nova Scotia. Fonds also includes other documents affecting title to land which were sometimes kept in separate books such as judgment books, will books and mortgage registers. Other documents which may be recorded in the registers include: quit claim deeds, wills, mechanics liens, power of attorney, right of ways, bills of sale, and assignments. Subsequent to 1851 the Fonds also includes land grant records, mainly in microfilm format as these were required to be deposited with the Registry of Deeds offices under the Crown Lands Act (R.S., C.114, s.1).

Isaac Deschamps

Consists of records created and accumulated by Deschamps, primarily documenting his activities at Fort Edward. Includes a bound volume containing correspondence relating to the Acadians; lists of Acadian prisoners and Mi'kmaq families residing near Fort Edward; and other material relating to Deschamp's various appointments, First Nations commerce and trade, Treaty of 1760, and settlements in Kings County. Also contains an original Pisiquid almanac/diary as well as photocopies of his other surviving diaries. MG 1 volume 258

John Seccombe

Consists of original and typescript of a diary kept by Seccombe, 30 July to 31 December 1761 which begins with his arrival from Boston and describes daily occurences at Chester. Diary also contains a list of names of 'first class of settlers with their families'. Also includes a record book of births and marriages at Chester, 1762-1785; sermon preached at Chester in 1767 and at Halifax in 1770; letters, 1771-1797, on microfilm, the majority of which were written by Rev. Seccombe to fellow Presbyterian minister, Rev. Bruin Romkes Comingo (1723-1820) of Lunenburg and discuss personal, family, and church affairs; sermons preached by Seccombe, 1772-1817, and extracts of published biographies. Also included is the diary (original and typescript) of one of Seccombe's daughters kept while at Harvard and Chester, 1753-1770. MG 1 volume 797C
Bailly family

Fonds consists of deeds and other items predominantly accumulated by Georges-Frederic Bailly and his son Joseph Bailly concerning property in Lunenburg, 1754-1824. Also includes deeds of property later acquired by the Bailly family and an account dated 1827, playing cards used to draw lots of land in Lunenburg, baptismal certificate, Georges-Frederick Bailly's certificate of naturalization, and two bound note books of his entitled, "Abrege de 16 discours, sur la redemption des hommes par la mort de Christ", 1780, which contains some notes on the Bailly family, and "Les degres de la vie spirituelle representes dan la vie interieure de Theodore de Brakel ministre de l'eglise de Makum en Frise [Holland]", 1775, written for his son Joseph.
