William Albert Hickman fonds
Fonds · 1861-1949, predominant 1893-1915
records accumulated by W.A. Hickman that trace his life from the Pictou Academy in 1896 to Harvard in 1897, to London England in 1901, and back to Pictou, Nova Scotia in 1903. The majority of the fonds consists of textual records documenting Hickman's life up until 1915, as well as over one hundred photographs of various individuals and boats. The records have been divided into the following series: Series 1: Personal correspondence. Series 2: New Brunswick Government Commissioner records. Series 3: Speedboats - textual records. Includes scores by Bud Powell, Charlie Parker, Horace Silver, Oliver Nelson, Chick Corea, Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, John Coltrane, Junior Vance ("How to Play Blues Piano"), Miles Davis, and Thelonious Monk. The fonds also consists of a news-clipping and copy concerning Chaisson, and a covering letter concerning the transfer of the material to the Archive. 2006.029.1

Includes correspondence, copies of articles (published and drafts), and notes. Some of the articles included in the fonds are: a letter on the 2005 Liberal-NDP budget deal, a draft of an article titled "Misconceptions about Conception", "The 'British Disease': Friedman's Misdiagnosis", various material (including correspondence and a letter to the editor) on Richard Lipsey on inflation in Canada, "Doctoring the Economy" (which was turned into an op-ed for "The Economy"), and two drafts of "Confederation Today: All in the Family?". 2009.011.1
