Fonds consists of memoirs written by MacMillan concerning the history of the MacMillan, Gunn, and Sinclair families as well as MacMillan's private and political life. Memoirs contain reminiscences of his childhood on the farm, his years in the United States, 1890-1901, and his political career from his first municipal office in 1902 to his appointment as premier of Nova Scotia in 1940, followed by the office of provincial treasurer. The memoirs provide personal insight and experience of events such as the United Mine Workers Strike and abolition of Legislative Council, as well as MacMillan's involvement with the Nova Scotia Power Commission and the development of rural telephone service and tourist industry in Nova Scotia. microfilm 10893
