This includes: letters from Laurie while stationed at various training camps and later France to his father and occasionally his mother; letters from Charlie and his wife Carmen while in Mexico and Oakland to his mother and father mostly requesting financial assistance and outline some of their difficulties; letters from Harry to his father discussing family matters (mainly Charlie and Carmen) and copies of letters that Harry wrote to his mother and forwarded to his father; letters to Harry from Leila before and after they were married; letters from Grandmother Bishop to the three Bishop boys; financial (personal and business) records of William Bishop; Christmas cards; and letters from Lizzie's brother Hedley. Photographs consist of members of the Bishop family and most have been identified.

The collection consists of two day books--one small softcover; the second a hardbound paper edition. They record the day to day transactions which took place at the Kennedy blacksmith operation at Loch Katrine. Most transactions were for cash, but several of the transactions show the goods purchased in exchange a service rendered ie: hauling; providing transportation for family member to go to Town; hemlock boards, etc. 2018.064.001

Part of Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds
Series forms part of the Grace (Williams) Forsythe fonds and consists of locally produced publications related to the history of communities on the Eastern Shore. Included in the series are two publications on the history of St. James Church and Jeddore, commemorating the 130th and 150th anniversaries of the St. James congregation, dated 1963 and 1983 respectively. Also included is the revised 1979 edition of a publication written by David E. Stephens, entitled the Story of the Musquodoboit Railway. Series also contains an article written by Margaret Davis entitled, Historical Society answers questions, which discusses how Grace Forsythe and Helen Jennex of the Marine Historical Society helped to answer the question of how Ava and Evangeline Kent passed away in the late1800s. The question was posed after the author discovered their graves in a forgotten graveyard in Pleasant Point. The article also discusses the resources offered by the Society and the publications that they issue. Series also contains a handwritten, one page history of the Red Cross Society in Jeddore. Also included are the histories of Jeddore businesses written by students, c. late 1940s. Businesses mentioned include Nathanial Dooks’ grocery store, the Jeddore post office, B. O. Myers grocery store, and Ralph Bonn’s blacksmith shop. Accession number: 2010.032
Lena Ferguson fonds

Fonds consists of approximately 137 hours of oral history interviews conducted by Lena Ferguson. Most interviewees were residents of the Eastern Shore region of Halifax County, particularly the Chezzetcook area. Interview topics include genealogy, local industries, occupations, music, shipping, community life, traditions, and folklore. In addition to interviews, the creator recorded school reunions, concerts, weddings, and church anniversaries. Several paper transcripts are included as well as scrapbooks featuring articles written by Lena and other newspaper articles regarding the Chezzetcook area. 2019.014
