Fonds consists of law publications and print materials relating primarily to government, the Canadian Constitution, or to Newfoundland joining confederation; copies of speeches; correspondence with family, friends, and professional associates, including some from former Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King; newspaper clippings and memorabilia; photographs; and a small group of other miscellaneous documents which includes stories of MacDonald written by friends and associates for the Dalhousie University Faculty of Law publication Hearsay. Fonds consists of papers created and/or accumulated by Catherine Creighton and her family, including those of her husband Graham and children Edith, Anna, Lois, Frieda, and Howard. While the fonds includes correspondence from Wilfred Creighton to his siblings and parents, Wilfred's papers are not included as a sous-fonds within the fonds. The bulk of the fonds consists of correspondence from family and friends, but also includes diaries, photographs, financial papers, personal papers, memorabilia, print materials, scrapbooks, articles, and artwork. Records in the fonds provide a well-rounded depiction of the family's daily activities and lives - from their relationships with each other, their extended family, and their community, to their financial status, values, education, and careers. This fonds consists of records related to Sandy Young’s academic research, interests, and teaching career which have a particular emphasis on sport and sport history in Nova Scotia and Canada. The largest series in the fonds consists of student papers, most of which were written for Dr. Young’s leisure studies classes and contain information gleaned from student interviews with athletes. The fonds also contains official and personal correspondence; research notes; newspaper clippings primarily regarding Nova Scotia athletes; conference information; committee records; film and video recordings used for class instruction; magazines; programs from various sports associations and sport teams; publications which include many articles written by Young on Maritime sport history; sound recordings; slides dealing with international sports history used for teaching; photographs of mostly Nova Scotian or Canadian athletes; postcards; maps; and scrapbooks.
