Series consists of records relating to the Committees efforts to keep the public informed and involved in the planning and development of the Park System. Series contains documents created by the Committee and by provincial park planners, including reports; notices; memorandums; question and answer documents; diagrams; maps; and blank questionnaire forms. Included is a brochure mapping and describing progress on the Park, published in 1978 by the Parks and Recreation Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Lands and Forests and produced in cooperation with the Committee. Also included in the series is a map showing proposed phased land acquisition for the Park. Series also contains documents related to background research on undertaken by Committee members, including statistics, regulations, a government publication on land registration, and other material. In addition, series contains clippings related to the earlier Ship Harbour National Park proposal, which were compiled in the early 1970s by Aubrey Siteman, the father of Committee member Lantz Siteman. 2009.034, 2009.035, 2013.019

Series forms part of W. Hugh Conrod fonds and consists of records likely related to research undertaken by Conrod on the road now known as Nova Scotia Highway 7. The research was likely related to a display of photographs which Conrod put on at the Dartmouth Heritage Museum circa 1967. The photographs were possibly taken along the Highway 7 route. Series includes a copy of the Nova Scotia Highways Statutes of 1920, a photocopied excerpt from James E. Rutledge’s 1954 book “Sheet Harbour: A Local History,” and a sheet of typewritten notes referring to a stage coach route. 2010.005

The fonds consists of records accumulated by Annabel (Siteman) Ells during the course of her research on the area of Ship Harbour and the families who lived there as well as personal records created and accumulated throughout her lifetime. The fonds includes a wide variety of records such as land related documents, wills, Loyalist petitions, census information, court papers, church registers and vital statistics including marriage, birth, and death records; school papers, genealogies, clippings and notes taken from various newspapers and periodicals, photographs and negatives, correspondence, postcards, and diaries.
