Series forms part of the Annabel (Siteman) Ells fonds and consists of correspondence regarding the establishment of a school at Ship Harbour, school trustee documents, school returns and registers for Ship Harbour school. Also includes correspondence from Clam Harbour school section, a memorial of the inhabitants of Egmont Harbour, Jeddore regarding the establishment of a school and church and aid to support a teacher. Also consists of school papers from Pictou County, particularly Toney River, and other school records gathered by Annabel Ells during the course of her research. In addition, series includes original high school certificates, teacher’s licenses and diplomas of Annabel Siteman as well as examination papers for various clerk positions. Stoddard fonds and consists of one certificate of discharge from the Mercantile Marine Office for Robert Stoddard, seaman, from the ship Champion, of Halifax, dated April 5, 1882. Stoddard had served since December 14th of the previous year. Robert Jamison Stoddard was the grandfather of Katherine L. Stoddard. Accession number: 2013.008

Series forms part of the Stanley F. Flaherty family fonds and contains the marriage certificate of John Fenwick Bayers of Musquodoboit Harbour and Sarah Jane Turple of Clam Bay on October 21, 1890 and signed by Rev. F. J. [Pentelowe]. John F. Bayers born was c. 1867 and was the son of George and Margaret Bayers. He was employed as a mill hand in Musquodoboit Harbour at the time of his marriage. Sarah Jane Turple was born c. 1868 and was the daughter of Alexander and Regina (Webber) Turple of Clam Bay. Together they had two children, Etta Regina Bayers (b. July 1, 1891) and Olive Bayers. Sarah Jane died sometime between about 1893 and 1897, when John F. Bayers remarried. He was then employed as a seaman and married Matilda Dillman of Dartmouth. He died sometime before 1923. Series forms part of Garth M. Hosking General Store fonds and consists of supplier invoices requesting payment for goods purchased by the store. Series also contains receipts for goods purchased in person from local or travelling suppliers. Shipping slips generated when goods were sent by vessel (1890-1920s), train (1930s), and transport truck (1940s and 1950s) are also included. Occasionally other records of a personal nature (some doctor's bills) are filed with invoices as per original order. Series reflects the change in the nature of business over the decades, from personalized letters acknowledging receipt of payment or goods, to daily order and monthly statements. Invoices list goods purchased on a regular basis, their quantity and price. Envelopes that the invoices were sent in reflect the accounting practice of Willy O Mitchell.Series also includes four receipt books for goods sold to local individuals dated between 1971 and 1977 as well as a certificate of inspection of the store’s weights and measures, dated to 1897. Series is part of the Laura F. Stoddard family fonds and consists of three ledgers containing general records of registered mail for 1894-1903, 1904, and 1914-1919. Series also consists of two notes from William Condon of the Egg Island Light c.1897 to Walter Stoddard, Postmaster at Clam Harbour, concerning registered mail as well as one note from another sender dated May 1895. These notes were originally located in the registered letters journal for the post office. Series also includes one certificate of post office registration for a letter addressed to Parker Archibald, and two Post Office Department notices to the postmaster at Clam Harbour concerning his salary as well as three envelopes. Series forms part of Anna Barbara Webber family fonds and consists of certificates issued to Webber family members including marriage certificates, a confirmation certificate, a school certificate, and a Canada Registration Board certificate. Series also includes wedding invitations and marriage and death announcements. In addition, series includes a Canadian passport issued to Frances Webber in 1941 and an autograph book owned by Frances Webber containing messages from friends and family written between 1932 and 1941. Part of Laura F. Stoddard family fonds
Series forms part of the Laura F. Stoddard family fonds and consists of a blank pledge card for a Members Associate Pledge likely for the Christian Endeavour Society as well as a certificate stating that William E. Stoddard enlisted in the White Ribbon Army of the N.S.S.S. Association in 1902 at the Sabbath School of the Union Church in Owl’s Head and pledged to abstain from alcohol, tobacco, and profanity. There is also a certificate presented to Robert Burns Williams by the Presbyterian Church of Canada for the memorizing of scripture in 1914 and one presented to Florence Etta Stoddard for reciting the catechism in 1907. Series also includes the communion roll of the Presbyterian Church at Clam Harbour which lists the names of both male and female voters, a pamphlet on the method of taking the vote on church union, and a number of used voter ballots from the vote on church union. There is also one bulletin from the First Baptist Church in Chanston Illinois which mentions a Miss Helen Fisher who attended the Nova Scotia Provincial Normal College. Accession number: 2013.010
