Fonds consists of financial records belonging to William Gaetz including insurance papers, receipts, correspondence, documents related to the estate of Josephine Gaetz, and military pension information. Also included are records related to Gaetz’s time spent serving in WWI, correspondence with soldiers during WWII, records related to Gaetz’s membership in the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Musquodoboit Harbour United Church for which Gaetz acted as treasurer. Church records include financial papers and correspondence, account books, receipts, religious education material, meeting minutes, photographs, insurance documents, and other material. Fonds also includes records pertaining to electoral districts and voters as Gaetz was one of the revisors of the voter lists for his district. Fonds consists of records of the Union Church of Lake Charlotte, Halifax County, Nova Scotia and include account books and other financial records and minutes of meetings. Included is an original account book detailing the annual list of individuals who contributed to the church, along with the amount paid to the minister. Cash disbursements and cash received are logged at the back of the book. Fonds also contains reproductions of three books containing the meeting minutes of the church dating from the first meeting in 1896 up until 1987. The books also record financial accounts of the church from 1896 to 1994, including cash disbursements and cash received. Also included with the books are reproductions of receipts and sheets of paper recording subscriptions for repairs to the church building, accounts, and other information. Fonds consists of the financial records of the trustees of Harbourside School of Owl's Head, Halifax County, Nova Scotia, including pages from a ledger book listing income and expenses of the trustees from January 1968 to June 1973. The ledger pages also list transactions of the trustees bank accounts from June 1977 to February 1983. Some transactions are also listed on sheets of loose leaf paper. Also included are two invoices addressed to the Harbourside School, one from Brookfield Foods and the other from the University of New Brunswick. In addition, there are two bank deposit slips and a calculator printout. Accession number 2009.042.

Fonds consists of records created by Symphony Nova Scotia in the course of its regular business activities. The majority of the records were created during the process of concert-planning, including special concerts, annual concerts, tours, and concert series. These records include artist contracts, marketing and development documents, internal memos, and correspondence with artists and sponsors. Records also consist of internal management records, including personnel records, office management files, and the files of the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and Chief Executive Officer. The financial administration of the Symphony is documented though budgets, statements, ledgers, and tickets sales data. The fonds also contains concert programs and promotional material such as posters, advertisements, flyers, newsletters, and other publications. The final section of the fonds consists of audiovisual and graphic material. There are audio recordings of performances and interviews of Symphony personnel as well as video recordings of advertisements and performances. The graphic material includes promotional photographs and photographs of the orchestra. MS-5-14

Fonds consists of financial records of St. John's Anglican Church, Oyster Pond, N.S., and includes a book listing donations received by the church with the names of the donors, collections information, records of money received from hall rentals, and other income sources. The book also records money paid to the minister and other miscellaneous expenses for the years 1941 to 1943. Some transactions and calculations are also recorded on loose sheets of paper. Also included are receipts from wholesale merchant P.H. Weary for hardware, oil, and other supplies, as well as a 1940 tax notice and receipt from the Municipality of the County of Halifax and a note requesting payment of insurance fees. 2010.007

Spry Bay store ledger and scrapbook

The item was originally a ledger from a store in Spry Bay c. 1896, in which accounts and retail transactions were recorded. The store may have been owned by the Leslie family. Later, around the time of the First World War, Bessie (Gerrard) Hilchey began using the ledger as a scrapbook and pasting newspaper clippings onto the pages, thereby covering most of the original ledger information. The scrapbook dates between about 1905 to 1953 and includes poems, newspaper articles, obituaries, marriage and engagement notices, graduation notices, clippings related to World War I and some small clippings about World War II, articles about horticulture, etiquette, single women and wives, bachelors and husbands, society columns, and articles about notable disasters or accidents including shipwrecks and fires. There are also handwritten notes mainly referring to the weather on the inside of the first page. These notes also record dates that buildings were constructed as well as the Halifax Explosion. Pages 195 to 285 have not been scrapbooked and remain purely accounts of retail transactions made at the store in Spry Bay, including the names of customers. Accession number: 2013.011
