The Acadian Supply Company fonds consist of correspondence, financial, legal, sales and shipping records and vessel papers. Also included is correspondence from Lunenburg Mayor Douglas Adams, church papers from LaHave United Church and the Parish of Saint John in Lunenburg, and papers from the Lunenburg Yacht Club and Curling Club. The fonds consists of records which document the business activities and interests of Adams & Knickle Ltd. from 1897 until 1968. Information contained in this fonds provides insight into the company’s role as a major fishing and shipping partner in the fishing and shipping industry in Nova Scotia. Also included in this fonds is information about the company’s international relations with the various agents engaged in this industry; the types and amounts of fish landed, processed, shipped and sold by the company; the many transactions involved in operating vessels; and various events that impacted on the company’s operations. The types of documents include: affidavits, agent accounts, agreements, catch journals, correspondence, damage claims, deeds, employment records, financial statements, fish sales records, fishing contracts, ledgers, notices of protest, port documents, sailing journals, time journals, vessel accounts and journals, vessel certificates, and vessel shares. The fonds consists mainly of general business correspondence and financial records recording the financial affairs of the business. The fonds also consist of legal records, mainly indentures and insurance policies for the business, sales and operations records and vessel records, which mainly consist of insurance policies, charter parties and protests. Also included in the fonds are records belonging to the Frieze family such as estate papers, and records from David Frieze's time as a justice if the peace for Hants County, along with electoral records and records belonging to the Maitland Presbyterian church, Sons of Temporance and Maitland school which both Frieze and Roy were involved in. Fonds consists of correspondence, a diary, invoices, receipts, statements, certificates, indentures, and photographs mainly documenting aspects of Slaunwhite’s long sea-faring career. The diary records a trip from Bridgewater to Puerto Rico and Boston on the brigantine Maggie in 1877. The records also include a few documents relating to Slaunwhite’s family, including his wife, parents, and his brother-in-law Edwin Bailly of Lunenburg. MBMS-4

Fonds contains the business papers from Himmelman Supply Company and several other companies owned or operated by Ernest H. Himmelman and Lawrence Himmelman. These include O.K. Service Shipping Company, Himmelman Shipping Limited, Oakland Shipping Limited, LaHave Investments Limited, Nova Hereford Farms, and Himmelman Supermarket Limited. The fonds contains a variety of business papers, including meeting minutes and administrative records, ships' vessel papers, correspondence, financial statements and ledgers, legal agreements and contracts, blueprints and maps, and photographs. Some of the personal papers of Lawrence Himmelman are also included in the fonds, including correspondence with the LaHave School, the local fire department, and other groups, financial records, and contracts and agreements. In 1954, a fire in the Himmelman Supermarket destroyed many of the business records. Most records in the fonds are from after this date, though some vessel papers and correspondence from before the fire survived. Administrative, Correspondence, Financial, and Vessel Papers Series contain records for Himmelman Supply Company and subsidiary companies. Additional records for subsidiary companies are found in series for Himmelman Shipping Company, O.K. Service Shipping Limited, Oakland Shipping Limited, LaHave Shipping Limited, and LaHave Investments Limited. Each vessel from the O.K. Service Fleet also has a series.
