Fonds consists of financial records of St. John's Anglican Church, Oyster Pond, N.S., and includes a book listing donations received by the church with the names of the donors, collections information, records of money received from hall rentals, and other income sources. The book also records money paid to the minister and other miscellaneous expenses for the years 1941 to 1943. Some transactions and calculations are also recorded on loose sheets of paper. Also included are receipts from wholesale merchant P.H. Weary for hardware, oil, and other supplies, as well as a 1940 tax notice and receipt from the Municipality of the County of Halifax and a note requesting payment of insurance fees. 2010.007

Remaining records include permits, dance step instructions, quilt patterns, paintings by Harold Brownhill, a poem by Burns Marks, a label from E. Homan’s clam cannery, a brochure for a Camp Charlotte, a sign erected by the Cranberry Committee, and a business card and photograph of Judge F. M. Morson. Accession number 2013.010

Series also includes one Halifax County tax receipt to Walter Stoddard from 1903, one life insurance policy for W. E. Stoddard from 1914 and one insurance policy renewal notice. Stoddard, Funeral Director, for Sun Life Assurance Co. and receipts, including Victory Bond, tax, and doctor receipts. One receipt from J. S. Manchester, M. D. has a letter written on the back to the doctor from Harris Blakeney regarding an error in the doctor’s bill.

Series also contains a bill of sale dated April 7, 1962 for a fishing boat sold to Wallace Russell by Burris Russell for two hundred and fifty dollars. Thomas ‘Wallace’ Murray Russell and Burris ‘Bub’ Russell were second cousins twice removed. Accession number: 2013.017

Hosking General Store fonds and consists of correspondence related to the Store, including a letter from a customer to Mildred Hosking, and a letter to Garth Hosking from the Employment Insurance Commission. Series also includes sets of blank letterheads and invoices in W.M.O. Mitchell’s name from the 1910s. Also included in the series is a 1941 license to sell gasoline issued to W.M.O. Mitchell.
