Fonds consists of judgements books (1837-1843, 1860-1922, 1936-1967) which include indexes and were used to record names of parties involved, date of judgement, amount of damages and/or costs awarded and occasionally a summary of proceedings including a list of witnesses; one docket book (1859-1882); and jury books used to record lists of persons sitting on grand and petit juries. Fonds also contains high sheriff's attachment registers (1905-1949) which record the issuance of writs of final process or the enforcement of the sentence in a judicial proceedings, names of parties, amount, writ number, court, attorney, date and nature of return, and fees; sheriff's letter book (1900-1903); and accounts of monthly returns to government. Judgement book 'A', kept by prothonotary and county clerk, John Edgar, contains some entries for county court.

Fonds consists of records of court cases held in the Municipality of Argyle, Stipendiary Magistrates' Court. These case records include correspondence between barristers and clerks of the Court, subpoenas, summons, court accounts, plaintiffs' fee bills, decisions, and records related to the operations of the Court.

Fonds consists of three judgement books of decisions (1796-1807, 1808-1812, and 1816-1831) of the court in civil actions. The books include name of defendant, plantiff, date of judgement, and amount of costs/damages awarded. An index is included in the 1826-1831 book. All books were created while court was still being held at Horton.

Fonds consists of letter books (1899-1907) which contain mayors' and clerks' correspondence regarding town and court affairs (1899-1904); loose correspondence of town officers and employees (1922-1942); town cash book (1932-1933); Municipal Court judgement book with index (1898-1928); Town Police report log (1897-1929); record of expiry dates of town insurance policies (1950-1987); School trustees annual and semi-annual returns for urban schools and Queens County Academy (1910-1951); teachers' oaths (1941-1947); records regarding the 1947 veterans lunch which include lists of WWI, WWII vets and war brides; a photo collection of town residence, events and locations, including the construction of the high school (ca. 1950); oaths of allegiance of town officers (1952-1971); nomination forms (1954-1970); and miscellaneous receipts.

records created and/or used by Donkin while he was Town clerk, a lawyer, and an insurance agent. The Town records consist of Cumberland County Court case records, which contain such items as summons and decisions, Municipal or Police Court Records, and Magistrates Court records. Records of the Town also include correspondence regarding the mayor, Returned Soldiers Employment Committee, Temperance, Amherst Fire Company, and communication with councilors and the mayor. Some Town financial records are also included in this fonds. Records regarding Donkin's positions with the North American Life Assurance Company and the Provident Mutual Association include policy information and correspondence. Some correspondence and other records related to his law practice are also included.
