The fonds consists of records accumulated by Annabel (Siteman) Ells during the course of her research on the area of Ship Harbour and the families who lived there as well as personal records created and accumulated throughout her lifetime. The fonds includes a wide variety of records such as land related documents, wills, Loyalist petitions, census information, court papers, church registers and vital statistics including marriage, birth, and death records; school papers, genealogies, clippings and notes taken from various newspapers and periodicals, photographs and negatives, correspondence, postcards, and diaries. Series forms part of Katherine L. Stoddard fonds and consists primarily of letters written to Katherine Stoddard by various correspondents between 1978 and 1998, including Robert Ritcey, Robert Kim Stevens, and others. Most pertain to genealogy related to families along the Eastern Shore, however, some are also personal in nature. Series also contains two letters from the First World War addressed to Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Stoddard concerning their son Private F. T. Stoddard. There is also a note from the Mercantile Marine Office concerning the wages of Robert Stoddard and dated 1882. The series also contains letters to Katherine’s mother, Eva Stoddard, from Annabel (likely Annabel Siteman); a letter to Lena from a Ritcey, and a letter to Bob Stoddard from his brother Thomas dated 1927. Series also includes several letters written to and by Robert Ritcey concerning the development of Martinique Beach as a National Park, letters from the Department of Tourism and Culture, a letter from the Department of Education concerning a gift agreement for a donation to the Nova Scotia Museum, and a letter from the Church Conservancy of Nova Scotia. Also included are historical documents and correspondence preserved by her grandfather and father, and family records given to her by a number of present day and former residents of Roseway/Churchover/Carleton Village area of Shelburne County. Her genealogical research also included in depth notes on branches of local families who settled in Guysborough County, Nova Scotia, and various counties in southern New Brunswick.
