Item consists of a Dartmouth Police Reserve badge issued to Robert Benjamin (no. 4 rank) by Police Chief John Lawlor. Benjamin remembers that John West organized the Reserves in reaction to the VE Day Riots in Halifax. The Reserves were ready for VJ (Victory in Japan) Day and guarded the Dartmouth liquor store which was in a small building near the train station. "When a small group gathered we were on hand and they quietly went home. This was our only event to put us in the 'Hall of fame'. Well we tried." 101-16F-022

Sub-series consists of minutes of regular and special council meetings, which were taken by the Town/City Clerk. At regular meetings, the minutes of preceding Council Meetings were read, corrected and confirmed. The reading was not necessary if the Minutes were previously circulated. Council minutes for some periods also contain the submissions for that meeting, as well as signed oaths of office and signed resolutions.Council had In-Camera meetings on confidential matters from 1966 to 1995. The minutes for in-camera sessions were kept separately as a distinct group of records. 101-1A
