        History

        John Killam, the son of John Killam, came from Wenham, Massachusetts in 1776 with his wife Joanna Parrot (Perrot) and his two sons John and Abraham. He and his family settled in Chegoggin, established a farm and had nine more children. John died ca. 1809 and Joanna Killam died on 24 April 1835 at the age of 97. John's grandson Thomas, the son of John, founded the Yarmouth shipping firm of Thomas Killam, which following his death in 1869, became known as Killam Brothers.
