Administrative history
When telephone service was first established in Antigonish County the service was intermittant. Poor infrastructure and equipment led to many problems and as a result some lines were abandoned. One example where such problems occured was Lakevale. In September 1941, an effort was made to re-establish communications in the hopes of making the delivery of service to subscribers more efficient.
Custodial history
The ledger was donated to the Antigonish Heritage Museum in 1993.
Scope and content
a small ledger containing minutes of meetings and letters of correspondence relating to the establishment of telephone service between Antigonish and Lakevale. Activities of the local telephone company were also recorded.
