Scope and content

Series forms part of the Musquodoboit Harbour Heritage Society collection and consists of research and photocopies of material related to various industries and services along the Eastern Shore. Includes an excerpt of a paper written by Mrs. Grace Forsythe on November 20, 1975 regarding the pulpwood industry in the 1930s and transcripts from the Nova Scotian, October, 1852, regarding the postal service on the Eastern Shore and the mail run carried out by William Anderson between Musquodoboit and Halifax. Series also contains photocopies of excerpts of a thesis written by George R. Evans in 1938 regarding gold mining in Nova Scotia in the nineteenth century. Also included is general research about local history of the Eastern Shore and a copy of an article written by Walter Bayer that was published in the Dartmouth Free Press in 1980 and entitled, Musquodoboit Harbour at the Turn of the Century.

Series also consists of a document that refers to the heritage Houses of Anderson Road, including the Bayer-Anderson House, John Bayer V House, James Locker House, Georges Bayer VI House, John Mosher House, and Dan Dauphinee House. Also included is a copy of a drawing of the Ben Power House circa 1810 by Joan E. Flewelling in 1979.

Series also contains two genealogy charts. The first is that of the Bayer family featuring the descendants of Hans George Bayer I and Eva Catherine Rouche and the second features the John Anderson family of Musquodoboit Harbour showing the connection with the Rowlings family, drawn by Joan Flewelling in 1983.
