Histoire administrative
The first company formed in the Lunenburg, Nova Scotia area was the 1st Bridgewater Company, founded in 1918 by Connie and Eileen Dudley. Lunenburg Division was established in 1921, when a company was formed in the town of Lunenburg by Kathleen Zwicker. Ms. Zwicker left Lunenburg several years later and the company leadership was assumed by Mary Johnson. The next town to join the division was Chester with the 1926 formation of a Guide company, followed by Rangers in 1929, and a Brownie pack in 1934. Since that time companies and packs formed and disbanded regularly until Guiding found a steady interest and a steady supply of leaders in 1949 when the Women's Institute and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Legion sponsored Guiding in the area. Kathleen Zwicker returned from Montreal and by 1931 she held the position of Lunenburg Division Commissioner. From these beginnings, Guiding spread rapidly throughout the Division. Presently, Lunenburg Area consists of the following districts: Bridgewater, Chester, Lunenburg, Mahone Bay and New Germany.
