    Biographical history

    Miriam Leila (Steede) Bell was born in 1862 at Hamilton, Bermuda, the daughter of Benson and Julia Ann (Roberts) Steede. She married Frank H. Bell, and they removed to Halifax, Nova Scotia. They had at least two children, a daughter Barbara and a son, Hugh. Bell was involved with philanthropic organizations such as Rainbow Haven and the Goodfellows’ Club. She died in January 1933.
