        History

        Angus Joseph MacDonald born at Brook Village, Inverness County in 1868, grandson of Angus “Tulloch” MacDonald. He was educated in Brook Village, Inverness County and continued studies at St F X College (1889-1891). During the college break, he would work in his father’s general store. Eventually he did not continue his studies and headed for work in the USA. He found employment as a bookkeeper with a woodworking operation in Rumford, Maine (1896-1898). In time he moved to the Boston area and worked as a teamster on the tram lines. He applied for citizenship of the US and it was granted in 1899. While in Boston he met Flora MacDonald of Maryvale, Antigonish County; married at Pomquet abt 1902 and raised a family Irene, Margaret and Alex. He died at his Bay Street, Antigonish home in 1961.
