Biographical history
Alexander MacNaughton, a native of Springfield, Antigonish County was born Nov 14 1896, the son of John Cumming MacNaughton and Amelia MacPhie. A veteran of the first World War he had worked for a time prior to the first world war in the lumber camps of Kamloops BC. After the war, he returned to BC where he died in July of 1927. It is believed that Alexander suffered shell shock during his time in the service and never fully recovered. He enlisted with the 18th Field Battery, was wounded at the Somme, and later at Arras, he won the military medal.
