    Biographical history

Marion Robb Christie was born 5 April 1906 at Sydney, Nova Scotia, the daughter of Andrew and Helen Robb. The Robb family moved to Bedford in 1914, where Marion attended Bedford School, Bloomfield School and Halifax Academy. She graduated from Dalhousie University in 1926 with a Bachelor of Arts, and received her Masters of Arts from Dalhousie in 1927. Later that year, Marion moved to Calgary to teach. In 1935, she married George Christie and they had four children: Margaret, Peter, Ross and Catherine. Marion resumed her teaching career at Bedford High School (1955-1959), followed by Sidney Stephen High School (1960-1968). Marion has been a member of many organizations such as the Fort Sackville Foundation, Leisure Club, Lawn Bowling and Heritage 80. She has been interested in heritage for many years, and has written two books: History of Bedford United Church 1868-1975 and History of Bedford United Church 1975-2000 (co-authored with Barbara Dodsworth). In 1986, Marion was awarded the Provincial Volunteer of the Year award, and she and her husband George received the Governor General's Caring Canadian Award in 2000.
