        History

Maritime Manufacturers & Contractors, Ltd. of Mader’s Cove, Nova Scotia, was apparently launched by Harris Strum before the First World War. Initially operating as Strum’s Mill, the company specialized in the manufacturing of window frames and doors. The firm was later managed by William Ernst, who expanded operations into custom cabinet-making. Following Ernst’s death in 1961, his son-in-law, Bernard G. Levy, became manager, running the company until it ceased operations in 1972.
