Biographical history

Matilda McCurdy was born on 20 February 1856, the daughter of Abigail Dickson (1818-1891) and Daniel McCurdy (1806-1887) and the grand-daughter of Robert and Lavinia DeWolf Dickson. Lavinia Dickson Davison, wife of James B. Davison, was her mother's sister. She lived for a time at Malagash and Wallace. Matilda never married and died in 1936.

Custodial history

The records were found in the Kennedy-Davison house at Wallace, in 1989 when the house was passed on to the community to be used as a museum.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of letters to Matilda from friends and relatives. Included in these are numerous letters from her cousin Mary Davison Kennedy. Also included are records regarding the sale of the 'Daniel McCurdy farm' at Onslow, by Matilda.
