Matilda McCurdy was born on 20 February 1856, the daughter of Abigail Dickson (1818-1891) and Daniel McCurdy (1806-1887) and the grand-daughter of Robert and Lavinia DeWolf Dickson. Lavinia Dickson Davison, wife of James B. Davison, was her mother's sister. She lived for a time at Malagash and Wallace. Matilda never married and died in 1936.
