        History

        Edwin Clay McLellan was born in 1868 in Colchester County, N.S. He married and had five children - Harry, Allison, Fred, Maude and Isabel. McLellan worked as a funeral director and undertaker in Tatamagouche. He also owned a general store, a lobster cannery at Malagash Point, and was superintendent of the local Sunday School. In 1902 he organized the first Tatamagouche (volunteer) Hook and Ladder Company, of which he was captain. He died in 1949.
