              administrative, research records and microfilmed copies of original materials collected from a variety of archives. Administrative records consist of correspondence, reports, minutes, and planning material related to the present operations of the Fortress and the reconstruction process. Also included are documentary records related to the reconstruction and to interpretation. Research materials consist of primary (copies) and secondary material used to support the present interpretation and reconstruction planning of the Fortress. Primary materials are microfilmed copies of original materials which are housed in various archives including the Archives Nationales (France), National Archives of Canada, Archives Departementales (France), and the Public Record Office (London). The scope of these records is varied but all are related to the history of the French presence in Nova Scotia, especially in regards to the Fortress. Also included in the fonds is an index to and copies of Louisbourg Parish registers.

              Fonds consists primarily of documents related to Katherine L. Stoddard’s research and her interest in genealogy, particularly that of her own family. Stoddard’s records include information related to many Eastern Shore families, including the Stoddard and Ritcey families, as well as local history. Fonds also includes correspondence, cookbooks and handwritten recipes, photographs, postcards, maps, certificates, land grants, yearbooks, deeds, and wills. Accession number: 2013.008

              Part of Katherine L. Stoddard family fonds
              Series forms part of Katherine L. Stoddard fonds and consists primarily of letters written to Katherine Stoddard by various correspondents between 1978 and 1998, including Robert Ritcey, Robert Kim Stevens, and others. Most pertain to genealogy related to families along the Eastern Shore, however, some are also personal in nature. Series also contains two letters from the First World War addressed to Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Stoddard concerning their son Private F. T. Stoddard. There is also a note from the Mercantile Marine Office concerning the wages of Robert Stoddard and dated 1882. The series also contains letters to Katherine’s mother, Eva Stoddard, from Annabel (likely Annabel Siteman); a letter to Lena from a Ritcey, and a letter to Bob Stoddard from his brother Thomas dated 1927. Series also includes several letters written to and by Robert Ritcey concerning the development of Martinique Beach as a National Park, letters from the Department of Tourism and Culture, a letter from the Department of Education concerning a gift agreement for a donation to the Nova Scotia Museum, and a letter from the Church Conservancy of Nova Scotia.               Part of Helen Jennex fonds
              Sub-series forms part of history and heritage activities series of the Helen Jennex fonds and consists of original illustrations of historical Eastern Shore tools and fishing techniques. The illustrations have captions and were probably used in displays put on by Helen Jennex and/or other members of the Marine Highway Historical Society and Fisherman’s House Museum. Sub-series also includes two original watercolours, one of Devil’s Oven, Clam Harbour, and one of Clam Harbour Beach. The watercolours are signed “W.R. Symons” and are dated to 1958.               Series forms part of Lake Charlotte Area Heritage Society fonds and consists of records related to research undertaken into Memory Lane Heritage Village’s historical setting, background, and artefacts. Series also includes records related to village interpretation, animation and programming, including the training of interpreters and animators as well as audio material consisting of 1940s radio program excerpts meant to enhance the experience of visitors. In addition, series includes records and drawings related to the construction of the village’s replica clam factory in 2005. Series also includes records related to a request from the Acadian House Museum for the society’s help in relocating an historical building. Society member Gordon Hammond, who had been involved in the relocation of buildings for Memory Lane Heritage Village, lent his experience and expertise for the relocation. Series contains notes, texts, clippings, drawings (including plans and other architectural drawings), program descriptions, training documents, inventories of artefacts, visitor guides, a recipe book, audio discs, packaging and instructions for original building materials including Insul-bric and Murray Shingles, as well as other material.               Series forms part of Lake Charlotte Area Heritage Society fonds and consists of records related to the conception and planning of Memory Lane Heritage Village, particularly phases I and II, which were primarily concerned with the initial establishment of the village. Series also includes records related to the implementation of the plans for the village, including records related to the acquisition of buildings and the construction of the village.
