              Fonds consists of financial records belonging to William Gaetz including insurance papers, receipts, correspondence, documents related to the estate of Josephine Gaetz, and military pension information. Also included are records related to Gaetz’s time spent serving in WWI, correspondence with soldiers during WWII, records related to Gaetz’s membership in the Brotherhood of Maintenance of Way Employees, the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, and the Musquodoboit Harbour United Church for which Gaetz acted as treasurer. Church records include financial papers and correspondence, account books, receipts, religious education material, meeting minutes, photographs, insurance documents, and other material. Fonds also includes records pertaining to electoral districts and voters as Gaetz was one of the revisors of the voter lists for his district. In addition, fonds includes lists of officers of the Musquodoboit Harbour Volunteer Fire Department and other material. Accession number 2012.001

              Collection consists of records donated to and accumulated by the Musquodoboit Harbour Heritage Society, relating to the history of communities and inhabitants along the Eastern Shore. The records consist of interview tapes and transcripts, photographs, land records, and information pertaining to the history of industries and services on the Eastern Shore as well as heritage houses.               Series forms part of the Musquodoboit Harbour Heritage Society collection and consists of research and photocopies of material related to various industries and services along the Eastern Shore. Includes an excerpt of a paper written by Mrs. Grace Forsythe on November 20, 1975 regarding the pulpwood industry in the 1930s and transcripts from the Nova Scotian, October, 1852, regarding the postal service on the Eastern Shore and the mail run carried out by William Anderson between Musquodoboit and Halifax. Series also contains photocopies of excerpts of a thesis written by George R. Evans in 1938 regarding gold mining in Nova Scotia in the nineteenth century. Also included is general research about local history of the Eastern Shore and a copy of an article written by Walter Bayer that was published in the Dartmouth Free Press in 1980 and entitled, Musquodoboit Harbour at the Turn of the Century. Series also consists of a document that refers to the heritage Houses of Anderson Road, including the Bayer-Anderson House, John Bayer V House, James Locker House, Georges Bayer VI House, John Mosher House, and Dan Dauphinee House. Also included is a copy of a drawing of the Ben Power House circa 1810 by Joan E. Flewelling in 1979. Series also contains two genealogy charts. The first is that of the Bayer family featuring the descendants of Hans George Bayer I and Eva Catherine Rouche and the second features the John Anderson family of Musquodoboit Harbour showing the connection with the Rowlings family, drawn by Joan Flewelling in 1983.               Fonds consists primarily of documents related to Katherine L. Stoddard’s research and her interest in genealogy, particularly that of her own family. Stoddard’s records include information related to many Eastern Shore families, including the Stoddard and Ritcey families, as well as local history. Fonds also includes correspondence, cookbooks and handwritten recipes, photographs, postcards, maps, certificates, land grants, yearbooks, deeds, and wills. Accession number: 2013.008

              Series forms part of the Ronald Slade family fonds and consists of pages from the Slade family bible recording births, deaths, and marriages, including Charles Slade, Mary Jane (Crawford) Brown, and their children: Charles Duncan and Alexander Crawford. Also included are records of Mary Jane’s first husband, James Brown, and their children: Archibald, Isabella, James, Henry, Mary Ann, Frances, Ronald, and Edward. In addition, records for Duncan (Charles Duncan) Slade and Sarah Day, Alexander C. Slade and Hattie F. Gaetz and their children: Elliott, Gertrude, Charles, and Ronald are included together with records of Gertrude Marie Myers and James W. Myers. Series also includes the obituary of Mrs. Alexander Slade (Hattie Florence Gaetz), a certificate of Martha Frances Abbott, the marriage certificate of Ronald Mitchell Slade and Annie Marie Murley, and two marriage certificates of Alexander C. Slade and Hattie F. Gaetz. In addition, series contains clippings of the obituary of Mrs. Alexander Slade, an advertisement requesting information about Slades posted by Ida Slade, and two obituaries of Ronald M. Slade.
