        History

        William McCully Nelson was born at Tatamagouche, Colchester County, Nova Scotia in 1888; the son of David and Mary Nelson. He received his early education in Tatamagouche and in 1913 graduated from Dalhousie Law School. While a student at Dalhousie, he was on the staff of the college magazine The Dalhousian. Nelson articled with Hugh Ferguson in Truro and returned to Tatamagouche to open his own office. He was an active member in the Presbyterian Church, later Sharon United Church, volunteering as a Sunday School teacher, Clerk of Session and was also a long time Scout leader. He was also for a time trustee for the Farmers' Commercial Union. Throughout his life he had an interest in local history and collected many historical records. Nelson died in 1966.
