Custodial history

The logs were originally owned by Patrick Oldfield's father, [Fredrick Oldfield], of Halifax, Nova Scotia. They were given to Peter Eldridge of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia who donated them to the Yarmouth County Museum. They were subsequently transferred to the Nova Scotia Archives by Laura Bradley of the Yarmouth County Museum.

Scope and content

Collection consists of two ships' log books. The contents of the collection document the voyages of a number of vessels mastered by Capt. Mills and Capt. Robert W. Anderson, including a few voyages to and from Halifax, Nova Scotia, providing details about location (longitude and latitude), winds, course and related remarks.
