Name of creator
The Saint Mary's University Alumni Office was established in 1971. Prior to this, there was a position with an unspecified relationship with alumni. Since the 1980s, the Alumni Office has acted as the campus contact for the Alumni Association. Known persons to have held the position of Alumni Moderator: M.J. O'Donnell (1969-1973) Known persons to have held the position of Alumni Director: M.J. O'Donnell (1968-1969), Laurie Smith (1981-1986), Tom McDonnell 1986-1991), Anne Mussett (1991-1999), and Barry Gallant (1999-2000, acting) Known persons to have held the position of Coordinator: Kevin Cleary (1975-1978) and Laurie Smith (1978-1981).
Custodial history is unknown. Most records prior to 1970 were retained by the previous administrations and are held in with their own records.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of a document, entitled "On the Prospect of Eliciting Increased Alumni Support", presented to the Board of Governors (1969) and graduate portraits (ca. 3500). Each envelope contains approximately ten proofs with negatives and ordering information.
Immediate source of acquisition
Records were transferred from the Alumni Office.
Photographs are arranged chronologically by graduation year and then alphabetically by last name of graduate. Fall graduates may be included either in the year of graduation or in the following year. Very few portraits are available for the years 1968 and 1969.
