    Administrative history

    The Saint Mary's University Development Office was established in 1981. From 1998, the Director reports to the Director of University Advancement; before this, the Director of the Development Office reported to the President. The Development Office manages Annual Fund Centre and the Capital Campaign Office. Prior to 1981, this Office was known as Development and Alumni Affairs (1975-1981) and Development Office (1963-1964). Between 1970 and 1972, the Vice-President of development coordinated finance and development efforts. Known persons to have held the position of director: Charles Vaughan (1975-1982) and Donald Keleher (1982-1999). Known person to have held the position of Vice-President of Development: Edmund Morris (1970-1972).

    Custodial history is unknown. Most records prior to 1970 were retained by the previous administrations and are held in their collections.

    Fonds consists of records related to the Building on Strength Campaign (1992, 1997, 1998), information concerning the Capital Campaign (1984-1989), a newsletter called the Daily Clipping Service (1969, 1970), information concerning the Development Program (n.d.), Higher Education in the Maritimes (n.d.), Report on Planning from Saint Mary's University (196?), a newsletter called the Saint Mary's Planner (1992, 1994), the Saint Mary's Story (n.d.), information about the Shell Oil Grant (1976), correspondence concerning the Staff Financial Campaign Committee (1984), and The Third Phase(1972).
