Includes records of course, daily remarks, and the personal writings and musings of Captain Butler. Writings include standard log reporting, but also the Captain's personal writings about his crew, the food, bad weather, sickness and personal fears. The bulk of the writing is of the one voyage in 1896. One page in log consists of a list of charts used in 1898.
