Scope and content
Subseries forms part of the Guysborough County Registry of Deeds series, and consists of 38 land transaction registers, 1815-1963, recording the sale or transfer of land between grantor (seller) and grantee (buyer), mortgage assignments and releases, quit claim deeds, and numerous other types of documents relating to land transactions. The documents recorded in the land transaction registers are transcriptions (the Registry's copy) of the original documents held by the grantor and grantee.
Subseries also includes Crown Land Grant Books 1-5, 1855-1969, which provided a local coy of land grants also recorded at the Crown Lands office.
