History
St. Thomas Catholic Church in Shelburne, Nova Scotia was completed in August, 1881. In 1887, Father J.J. Sullivan, of West Pubnico, accepted the charge of Shelburne church. In 1910 it became a mission of the new Parish of East Pubnico. In 1927, Fr. O. Bellefontaine became pastor and instituted monthly masses in Shelburne. The late Fr. Louis Comeau, becoming pastor in 1941, provided weekly masses. In 1956, St. Thomas became a parish and Rev. Fr. Clarence Thibeau the first pastor.
