Biographical history

Steven Sneden Ruggles was born in 1845 in Annapolis County, N.S., the son of Timothy D. Ruggles, QC. He served as Customs Collector at Bridgetown in the 1870s and 1880s. He died unmarried in 1915.

Custodial history

Records were found in the former home of S.S. Ruggles and were donated to the Society.

Scope and content

Fonds consists of one day book of fees collected by Ruggles, one account book used to record duties collected and monthly wages, and one day book used to record sales.
